Our Interventional Endoscopy Department performs advancing minimally invasive techniques for treating gastrointestinal disorders, often substituting for surgery. Current therapies focus on EMR/ESD for cancers, EUS-guided drainage, IBD stricture therapies (balloon dilation, incision), and Novel endoscopic technologies (bariatric techniques, imaging), Resection and Ablation Techniques, Motility and Structural Intervention, Hemostasis to improve diagnostic precision and therapeutic efficacy.
Our Key Areas of Active Research
Oncology & Resection:
Advanced techniques like Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR) and Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD) are heavily researched to treat early-stage gastrointestinal cancers.
Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS):
Significant research is aimed at therapeutic EUS, including biliary and pancreatic duct drainage, as well as managing pancreatic cysts and early cancer detection.
Bariatric Endoscopy:
Studies are investigating endoscopic treatments for obesity and metabolic syndrome, including endoscopic gastroplasty and transoral outlet reduction endoscopy (TORe).
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD):
Research is focusing on managing Crohn's strictures via endoscopic balloon dilation (EBD) and stricturotomy, offering alternatives to surgical resection.
Third-Space Endoscopy:
Advancements in tunneling techniques like POEM (Per-Oral Endoscopic Myotomy) for motility disorders.
